Drawing the line

“Drawing the line” is an art installation exploring a wider reach for recycling art pieces made by young immigrants, hoping to broaden the conversation relating to immigration and climate change.

The work is based on fishing net buoys. The sea has links to some of the experiances of these youngsters. The fish net as a constricting object, taking away freedom.

On the other hand the work relates to a necklace, a decoration that might be shown off to others in celebration.

This piece aims to balance on this tension; the joy of reaching a destination- celebration-, and a reminder of the hardships getting there.
